“Those who do not weep, do not see.” Though they both tried to remain perfectly calm, Addison knew that something needed to be figured out with the two’s new relationship. But as Dar spoke about the two’s relationship and the two’s responsibilities, Addison was bit more comforted. The thing was, Dar was completely right. They did have each other now, and they shouldn’t have to hide such emotions…but at the same time, they would have to retain their responsibilities as Dux’s. There would have be a separation within work and emotions. The two of them still had a responsibility to the many orphans living here in which they had to take care of, but now they still had obligations to each other. Helping provide, comfort, and show compassion to the many orphans here came first, and seeing as they were both orphans themselves, this also meant taking care of each other. Their work could slightly be involved in their relationship, just not entirely on a public level like other orphans were capable of.
Addison couldn’t have agreed with Dar more with each statement he made, but one word in particular within his final statement shook her up a bit. Love…Were such orphans who were forgotten by their own society even capable of such love? Did society drain them from all emotions leaving them unable to even love another human being, seeing as they were not loved themselves. So many questions flustered around Addison’s head constantly around the word “Love.” Addison began to put all the emotions that she had felt for him, and the emotions that he had expressed for her into thought. Caring for someone unconditionally, promising to have compassion towards someone no matter what the circumstance, willing to go through hell and back for someone….Looking forward to seeing their face, even their smile each and every day. Was this love? That butterfly feeling you get in the pit of your stomach when you finally get to see that special person after such a long time. The blush that they bring to your cheeks by barely brushing their fingers against your skin. That naturally protective nature when you know they are in trouble, leading you to believe you could take on the world…Was this love? Was love something you could learn from mere fairy tales you are told when only a young child, or was it something that you had to wait and experience yourself? All these built up feelings, and memories, was this love? Addison was slightly confused on such a concept as love, but she was more than willing to find out…especially with Dar.
Nodding slightly up at Dar, Addison blushed as he kissed her forehead. Feeling the soaked clothing against her skin, Addison decided it was probably best that they both did change. “You’re probably right, See you in a bit?”Smiling softly, Addison looked up at Dar with her bright brown eyes. Seeing as his tree house was still fairly close to hers, Addison saw no issues in walking over to his after she had changed. It was for the most part safe anyways seeing as mostly everyone was inside due to the sudden change in weather. Before leaving Dar’s side, Addison reached up and pressed her lips to his softly. This kiss was longer then her first kiss with him, it lasted several moments and had obvious emotion behind it. Though Addison hadn’t the slightest clue of love just yet, she did know she had very strong emotions for Dar. The kiss was one of a passionate one, allowing their lips to brush against one another for a few moments. There was a slight adrenaline from the mere touch of her lips against his, but overtime, she had to pull away. Looking up at him she smiled softly and rocked on her heels for a brief second. “Be right there....once I no longer look like a wet dog.” Laughing softly, Addison then began to make her way over towards her tree house.
It wasn’t far but it was a decent walk to get there, then to walk over to his tree house. After enough climbing and walking, Addison finally reached her tree house. Though the entire time she had been with Dar she had felt at peace, she had also felt a tad bit on edge…almost as though they were being watched when nobody was even there. But now that she was away from Dar, she couldn’t wait to be back in his arms again. Word Count: 750 Musical Inspiration: n/a Characters emotion: Confused by the concept of love, but willing to find out. Notes: woohoo!!!

Even though his mind was running a hundred miles a minute, he tried to tell himself to calm down. This wasn’t the end of the world. He had been through much worse than experiencing the fear of being told no. Not only did he have to control himself for Addison, he also had to do it for the other orphans of Oblitus. He couldn’t let this get in the way of his job, no matter what. He thought of telling Addison this, but figured he would mention it at a later time. He didn’t want to upset her, but they had to keep their priorities in check. If they didn’t, there would be more than one consequence. Not only would it show that they were incapable of being in a relationship as the Dux Orphanus, but it would affect the little ones. He wouldn’t let that happen. That’s why he accepted the role as a Dux. He wanted to make life easier for them, not harder. He let out a sigh before he could stop it.
When he kissed her forehead, he noticed her blush. Not wanting to make it worse, he kept his comment to himself, but he did think it was adorable. Smiling as she spoke he nodded his head. Darrius was actually looking forward to just a lazy day in with Addison. The weather was getting worse and he saw a strike of lightning shoot through the sky. There wouldn’t be much need to leave his little hut once they got there. Unless of course there was some emergency, but he didn’t see that happening today. Darrius smiled when Addison reached up to kiss him. Once more it was longer than the first kiss and much more passionate. Before she could break away, he wrapped his arms around her waist, picking her up slightly and kissed her back with more force. As always, he was gentle, but he added a little spice to it. Smiling as he put her back down. Her laugh filled his heart with happiness. Be right there....once I no longer look like a wet dog. All Darrius could do was laugh with her, shaking his head. “Alright, I’ll see you in a few.” He said, as he headed towards his tree-house.
After climbing up to his room, he shut the door and took a deep breath. He could feel some tension that was caused by today’s events. Not necessarily between the two Dux’s, but just in general. Dar kicked off his shoes and hung up his jacket. Walking over to his dresser he picked up a pink candle that sat there. As much as he hated, actually feared, fire he still had a few candles that his mother kept in the house. They had a floral smell to them, but he didn’t care. They reminded him of her. He took a big whiff of the candle before lighting it. Shuddering as he watched the flame engulf the wick he walked over to his closet. He would glance back every so often to make sure the fire hadn’t spread. Stripping of his drenched clothes, he chose a simple t-shirt and a pair of flannel pajama pants. If he was going to be inside he might as well be comfortable. He hoped Addison wouldn’t mind. Tidying up a little before she came over, he was making his bed when he became mesmerized with the candle.
It wasn’t very often he lit it. This was one of the reasons why. His panic attacks ranged from very miniscule to seriously major. Luckily this one wasn’t so bad. A little shortness of breath and being completely focused on the flames were the only symptoms he was experiencing. If he could only get over the fact that just because there was fire around, that doesn’t mean someone will get hurt. He stood there next to his bed, the covers still in his hand, entranced by the candle. A very solemn look covered his face.

“Those who do not weep, do not see.” To say the least, Darrius had surprised her when he picked her up to utterly embrace the kiss. But it was a wonderful surprise. It was interesting how no matter what the mood, that Dar could surprise her always and constantly keep her on her toes. As she continued back to her hut, Addison looked about her room for a few brief seconds. She would definitely need to change before heading over to Dar’s hut. Running her fingers through her hair for a few moments helped her dry slightly. Afterwards she striped off her damp clothes, she tossed them to the side of her hut where she would wash them and hang them to dry later. Looking over in the corner of her room where she threw the clothing, it seemed already wet before she put the clothing down. Looking around her room quickly, she soon realized where the water had come from, she had left a window open. Hurrying over towards the window, she placed her hands on the edge of it and pushed wish all her might. She had a very small frame but she also had some muscle behind her frame. After the window had finally shut tight, Addison sighed in relief.
Walking over to her dresser, Addison began to focus more so now on finding clothing. A simple task was taking so long for some strange reason. Tossing and searching through her clothing, Addison finally found a pair of sweat pants and a tank top. Slipping on the new particles of clothing, Addison felt so much warmer immediately. Taking a deep Addison felt back upon her cozy bed for a few brief moments. Seeing as she had left her window open, her room had a nice cool feeling to it, the air was a nice change against her skin. Taking a few moments to unwind herself, Addison stretched against her chilly bed.
There was so much to think about now that there was a new twist in Oblitus. The children and orphans did have to come first, always work first, but it was a hard concept to comprehend when danger came around. They still had to figure out how to help nova’s feel more comfortable upon their entry to Oblitus. At this point, it seemed that there was more questions then answers. Probably tomorrow she would make a trip to the library just to make sure she hadn’t over looked anything. It was better to be safe than sorry in a situation such as this one, the last thing she needed was to have overlooked a possible solution. Pushing her body up and off her bed, Addison decided that it was probably time for her to head over to Dar’s hut. Seeing as it was still raining, Addison decided against shoes and placed a rather large jacket over herself. It was time to return to the heavy rain that Addison enjoyed so very much. You could hear the loud thud of the rain against each hut, this at least meant that all the plants would get a good drink before the heat kicked up again.
Heading out her door, Addison began to walk down the various bridge paths that connected the huts. At this point, Addison was thankful that the bridges were updated every so often to keep them safe during occasions such as this. Biting her bottom lips softly, Addison hurried her foot steps along trying to avoid getting wet as much as possible. Maybe the problem they were facing with the Nova’s was there wasn’t enough community involvement, once you begin to know more people in the community, it has been proven that you become more comfortable with your new home. . There were so many tasks to get done in such a small amount of time, but it seemed that today was a day to relax more so and to just take everything in.
Eventually Addison finally reached Dar’s hut, coming close to knock, Addison then decided that she should probably just walk in. Stepping into his hut Addison watched how intrigued Dar was by the candle he had lit. Tipping her head slightly, Addison walked over to Dar’s bed and sat down upon it. “Still don’t like flames, huh?” Addison also looked over at flaming air now, to Addison flames were actually quite beautiful, but Addison found all natural disasters beautiful too. Leaning over slightly, Addison softly covered Dar’s eyes and smiled. He had been so hypnotized the entire time by the flames that Addison figured he hadn’t seen her come in. “Guess who” Word Count: 770 Musical Inspiration: n/a Characters emotion: No specific emotions, just a overall good mood but with some confusion. If he didn’t pull it together, this mini panic attack could turn into a full-blown attack. His hands gripped the blankets he was still holding so tightly that his knuckles were white. His hands were shaking as well. Lighting the candle had been a stupid idea. He knew it. Fighting this fear alone was not working, especially of late. Barely noticing Addison as she entered his room, he couldn’t take his eyes off of that flame. All he could imagine was it bursting into a large fire and burning down the entire village. His breaths came faster now and he began to grow dizzy. How much longer could he tolerate this?
Someone’s voice interrupted his reverie. Still his eyes never left the candle. He tried to make sense of what was said. Still don’t like flames, huh? The voice seemed to mock his fear. No. He answered back in his head. Of course he didn’t like flames. He never would. They were the reason his mother was dead. That fire took every good thing from his life, and within only minutes. Hands covered his eyes as the voice began again. Guess who. Darrius dropped the blankets and forcefully grabbed Addison’s wrists. He held her wrists there in between them. It was only now that he looked away from the candle.
“What’s your problem?” He asked angrily, noticing her smile. He finally noticed who it was, but that didn’t soften his temper. “Can’t you just blow the damn thing out?” He asked, still upset as he dropped her wrists. Dar never meant to take it out on Addi, but he was having an attack. Not that she knew, but it just put all of his emotions on edge. To be honest, at that point in time he didn’t even know what he was doing.
Taking a deep breath and rubbing his hand on his forehead. "Ad…I.. I’m so sorry. ” His head dropped and he looked at his floor. He never intended to hurt her, physically or mentally. “It’s just..you know I’m not good with it yet. I’m trying. I’m trying so damn hard, but nothing is working.” He said, confused. For years now, Darrius had been practicing being around fire, even a small one such as his mother’s candle. He still couldn’t even see it without getting a reaction. His panic attacks would come and go.
When there were others around sometimes it would make it easier, other times not so much. When he saw them dancing and sitting around the fire, there were times when he thought good thoughts. They are all so calm, there’s nothing wrong with just sitting around it. This is actually fun. But other times he would worry about them getting hurt. If something happens and that fire starts to spread so many of them will get hurt. I can’t just sit back and watch it. It was so frustrating for him.
Looking up again, trying to make eye contact with Addison, he hoped she didn’t take anything he said to heart. Waiting for her to respond, he wanted to reach out and embrace her in a comforting hug. Instead he crossed his arms across his chest. “I really am sorry Addison. You know I am. That's not me.” He said quietly, biting his bottom lip. _____________________

“Those who do not weep, do not see.” There was no other way for Addison to compensate what had just happened besides acting on instinct. She had a naturally explosive temper that she allowed to keep relaxed while in her position of duty…it had been something she was working on. Fear was something that could really twist you into something that you wouldn’t usually be, and this could go for both Dar and Addison. And sometimes mere fears, can also turn a perfectly calm situation into something vivid.
The very moment that Dar grabbed Addison’s wrist, she no longer thought based on the situation, but more so, on her basic instinct. Jerking her wrist away from his hand and standing back up quickly, Addison couldn’t help but glare at him. Who did he think he was right in that moment? Asking her what her problem was? What the hell was his? Addison shook her head slightly and as he spoke again, she couldn’t help but snap back at him this time. “Then don’t light the freaking thing if you can’t blow it out yourself.” There was a obvious frustration that could be sensed within Addison, but didn’t she have all the right to be? Even Addison had fears, but she didn’t let them own her. At the moment, she was really lost for words. Of course when he apologized Addison wanted to comfort him and tell him that everything was okay, but that was her more compassionate side speaking, the truth was…it wasn’t okay. What if that would have been one of the Nova’s here and that had happened? Good luck getting the comfortable then… Addison’s thought rushed in the moment, but she remained quiet and standing. Suddenly things had gotten a whole more awkward.
Each apology, Addison heard him…but something about apologies had numbed her through the years. Everyone apologized when they gave you up to foster care, or even the orphanages, it doesn’t mean it would change their actions. Shaking her head slightly, Addison tried to come up with the right words to say, but it impossible to find such words. Everything had shaken up within Addison, and deep down…she had become scared for a brief moment. Through her entire life she had grown close to those she cared so dearly about…just for them to hurt her, and so Dar’s reaction shook her entire being. Looking around the room a little bit, Addison walked over towards the candle and pinched the flame between her finger tips. Brushing her hair from in front of her eyes, Addison slowly allowed her eyes to look back up at Dar. He really was apologetic, but Addison just didn’t know how to tell him that such a thing was okay when it wasn’t.
Biting the inside of her cheek and slowly allowing her eyes to fade back towards the ground, Addison finally came to the conclusion that maybe it would just be better off if she return to her hut…Maybe after-all her just didn’t want her here. Or possibly she should just give him his space for now since his fire panic attack. “I should probably head to the Bibliotheca…lots of research to do and such…” Biting her bottom lips softly, Addison approached the door before sighing softly. Looking back at Dar she then let out a sigh as he apologized again. Turning around she looked at him. Her eyes were obviously still a tad bit angry, but more scared than anything else. Her face had gone slightly pale, and her stomach felt like someone had punched it. She would rather a complete stranger lay a hand on her like that, rather then someone she trusts…But hearing him apologize again, she did know he was sorry. Sighing softly, Addison walked over towards him and was hesitant sitting down at first, but eventually ended up doing so anyways. “I can’t tell you that it is okay when it’s not…But I will continue to be here for you.” Looking down for a brief moment at the floor boards beneath them, Addison knew that eventually she would have to look up to finish what she had to say. Instead of just bursting out of anger, Addison took a few brief seconds to carefully consider her following statement, and once she was absolutely sure, she looked back up at Dar and spoke a little more seriously. “Just promise not to lay a hand on me like that ever again.” Word Count: 735 Musical Inspiration: n/a Characters emotion: Scared, Confused, Jumpy, Notes: Addison is not happy….

The pain and hurt he was going through was to be understood by someone who truly cared for him. It wasn’t often Darrius had outbursts like this. He imagined Addison to be a kind and supportive friend; he never imagined the reaction he got. When she jerked her hands away from him he stood their stunned. Then don’t light the freaking thing if you can’t blow it out yourself. Her words cut deeper than any before. It was as if his heart skipped a beat and time stood still. Darrius expected Addison to understand. This wasn’t just some stupid fear. This was a phobia. It was the cause of his mother’s death. It almost caused his death. Sure he got out of the house, but he wasn’t unscathed. He sat down on the edge of his bed, trying to make sense of everything.
When his first apology went unnoticed his disappointment and pain grew. Why was Addison being so heartless towards him? What happened to her caring and selfless demeanor? Darrius shook his head. If she couldn’t help him beat his biggest fear then what... He stopped that thought before it finished. No matter how angry he was, Addison was still an important part of his life. He just never saw this coming. Her decision to ridicule him for being afraid of fire upset him, but her deciding to leave him hurt him even more. I should probably head to the Bibliotheca…lots of research to do and such…
Letting out a sigh he tried to think of anything to say. Nothing came to him. It was obvious that his apologies were going unnoticed and he couldn’t bring himself to beg her. It was agonizing the way she was treating him. After all these years, Addison should’ve known he was trying to cure his fear. She should’ve known that he needed help. Her voice brought him back for a moment. I can’t tell you that it is okay when it’s not…But I will continue to be here for you. Just promise not to lay a hand on me like that ever again.
His head became heated once more, but he kept his voice calm this time. “Obviously you aren’t here for me. It seems like you never were. Addison, I don’t understand how you could react that way. It was obvious that I was afraid. You’ve seen me have these attacks before. I can’t believe you reacted in anger. If you were ‘here for me’ you would’ve helped, not brought me more pain. Can you even imagine the images I see when I see flames? No, you can’t. You know nothing of what I go through when I have an attack. You only see my reactions to them. I’ve tried so hard to control them, but you know I can’t.” He finished, taking a deep breath and look away from her. Darrius wasn’t trying to hurt her feelings, he was just confused and hurt.
The words that came out of his mouth next actually surprised him. “I don’t think this is going to work...” He whispered it, almost as though he never said it. But he did. Unsure of whether he meant it or not he watched for Addison’s reaction.

“Those who do not weep, do not see.” Each and every word he now spoke cut deeper than any blade ever could. Addison had been scared, scared to the point she had gone into flight or fight mode. She hadn’t meant t hurt him and jerk away, but this was instinct that had taken over. She would never give up on Dar, that is why she remained there…but it seemed that he no longer wanted her even in his sights. There were so many things Addison wanted to say, in anger, frustration, fear…but instead she said nothing.
At this point there was really nothing left to say, so Addison allowed the air to thicken between the two Dux’s. Addison had told Dar almost everything about her, besides the fact that her mother was abusive. Shaking slightly, Addison rubbed her arms with her hands trying rid herself of the dozens of goose bumps that were now appearing on her arms .How could a day that had been going so wonderfully, now twist into something so vile, so cruel, and wrong.
When Dar’s, final words were spoken, Addison stood there stunned for a couple seconds. Was everything he said and talked to her about outside just a trick? Had he played her emotions like a fiddle? It seemed at this moment that he wanted to be with her only if they didn’t fight…But she hadn’t even meant to pick this fight. Unsure how to react or even if it was right to say anything, Addison walked over towards his door and merely walked out. Her face was emotionless and her mind was stumbling thought after thought. What had just happened? This was something that Addison couldn’t wrap her mind around, had he just given up on her? Had he just done the very thing that he had promised never to do to her, on the same day that they had just gotten together? Shaking her head rapidly as she walked in the rain, Addison tried to think what to do next from a logical perspective. But, the problem was, nothing felt logical right now…Nothing even felt right at the moment. It had all become some twisted nightmare made by the wrong person.
Letting the rain hit against her soft skin, Addison walked right past her hut and just continued walking. Down the ladder she went and just continued walking. It seemed as though she was just taking a stroll, but a stroll right into the forest as night was approaching. She had no fear for the forest in any shape or form…it just wasn’t recommended that anyone enters the forest at night. Her mind couldn’t focus on one single objective; instead it was over run by about a dozen different tasks. With each tree that she passed, she could feel the rain begin to beat down harder against her. Her hair was now soaked, along with her clothing but she hadn’t even noticed yet.
She didn’t want to think, she didn’t want to act, and at this point…there wasn’t anything that could be beneficial. Addison wanted nobody to find her until she wanted to be found. Walking deeper into the forest, Addison’s eyes searched the skies and the various tree’s that had began to form leafs. At this very moment, nothing was right, and nothing could make what just had happened right except for Darrius himself. Addison wasn’t only upset at him, but she had now become very upset with herself due to what he had said. She wasn’t there for him in the way that he wanted…but she wasn’t entirely sure if she could’ve been. Biting her bottom lip softly, Addison allowed her thoughts and the forest to swallow her whole. Into the darkness without a light, and with no peace in mind…Addison began to lose herself and her surroundings. It had been the darkest day yet… Word Count: 650 Musical Inspiration: So Sick Characters emotion: Upset, Despair, Robot like after a while Notes: Poor Dar and Addy..

The two Dux Orphanus sat in silence for what seemed like an eternity. The air became filled with a tenseness that Darrius never would have anticipated. This was so abnormal for the two of them. Sure, everyone fought now and then but Dar and Ad’s fights didn’t last more than a minute. They had to stick together; the world of Oblitus was on their shoulders. This was one of the reasons Darrius’s mind allowed him to speak those eight evil words. If a relationship were to come in between their duty to this community there was no chance of it surviving.
His eyes grazed over Addison’s face and body. He could tell her hurt her. It was never his intention, but he had to make decisions that were best for everyone. When he noticed her shaking he was unsure if it was from anger or sadness, either way this was because of his actions and words. He took a deep breath and rattled his brain for words to make her feel better. None came to him. Both of them were hurting and this situation could not be fixed right now. Dar let out a sigh not knowing what to do. He honestly cared about her, he really did. It was obvious that this was hard for him to show when he became upset.
Watching as Addison began to walk towards his door, he stood up slowly and tried to call her name out. “Ad…” He whispered as she left the room. He didn’t think she’d stop, but he didn’t want to regret not trying. A few moments later he was standing in the rain. “Addison!” He called again watching her form become smaller and smaller. Sighing he entered his room again. He ran his fingers through his hair, frustrated. He sat down on his bed and looked over at his dresser. The candle sat there, it’s flame diminished by Addison’s soft fingers. Throwing himself back on the bed, he closed his eyes and swore under his breath. “Dammit.”
