summary of personality: Despite being here for almost a year, Jude still has not adjusted to being in Oblitus. He tends to keep his distance from the other children, so even though he is considered a Nova Orphanus still, it would not be all that surprising if he became a Solus Orphanus in a few years. As for now, he tends to stay close to the main areas of Oblitus in hopes of his brother coming to join him. He can normally be found reading in the library. In the short time that he has been here, Jude has obtained a surprisingly large amount of information about Oblitus and at times can surprise the older orphans with his knowledge. Though he often appears to be sulking and grumpy, he is able to hold great conversations (if one is able to get him to talk, that is). [/blockquote][/blockquote]

summary of history: Tabitha Knight was still in high school when she gave birth to Jude—much too young to become a mother. Jude was considered a mistake from the moment she found out she was pregnant, not only by Tabitha but her parents. Tabitha was determined to keep him and stay together with Jude’s father despite her parent’s anger towards her. Soon after the birth of Jude’s younger brother, Jude’s father and Tabitha ran off together with the boys, severing all ties with their family. However, Jude’s father was unable to handle the stress of being a young father and ran off when Jude was four, leaving Tabitha with two small children and no way to support herself.
After trying to live on a waitress salary for several months, Tabitha found herself in danger of losing the small apartment the family was living in. Tabitha resorted to prostitution to support the family. Jude and Jack found themselves in the care of the elderly lady next door during the day and often during the nights, and she was more than eager to watch the two boys for free. The time Jude was under her care was some of the best years of his life. The women had no television and would entertain the boys by reading to them or taking them to the park.
Jude hardly took notice when his mother disappeared when he was six. He was used to staying with the elderly lady and did not question the extended length of time that she was gone. Eventually, his elementary school did take notice that Jude and Jack seemed to be under the care of the women when all of Jude’s paperwork kept coming back signed not by his mother. When Child Protective Services stepped in, the women fought to adopt the boys but the court system denied it due to her age.
And so, Jude and Jack were thrown into the foster system. At the ages of six and three, it was easy to place the two boys together. With Jude playing the role of the serious protective older brother and Jack playing the role of mischievous younger brother, the two boys won the hearts of many of their foster families, but something always seemed to come up—the couple received a baby, the couple was charged with neglect, the couple decided they could no longer handle two boys—Jude and Jack heard it all. Once Jude turned nine, it became increasingly hard to place him and Jack together—everyone wanted the cute six-year-old, but nobody wanted the sullen nine-year-old that came with him. Eventually, the two boys were placed in separate homes. Jude was now being placed in homes with teenagers instead of children, and quickly found himself the victim of many older children.
The only outlet Jude found to deal with the loss of his brother and the assaults of the older foster children was reading. Whenever he read, he was instantly taken into a world free of the issues he was facing in his foster homes. However, despite the boys being in separate homes, the foster families lived close enough that the two of them were able to meet up about once a month.
When Jude was almost eleven, Jack’s foster family ended up moving to another state. Months of loneliness followed. Jude felt himself growing more distant from the outside world and found himself wishing he could be someone else. When he found himself in Oblitus, his initial reaction was that he had finally wished himself into one of his books.
Once he realized the land was very much real and that he was to live here, in the form of his ten-year-old boy, he became distraught. Being here meant his chances of ever seeing Jack again almost impossible. In the months since he has been here, Jude has kept his distance from forming close relationships with anyone as he is afraid to lose any more people that he cares about.
